"Abandoning that watered-down group would lead to a life-altering musical
choice: Massi
signed on to front Atakor, a heavy-rock band with political leanings. Her seven
years with Atakor earned her a troublemaker's reputation in fundamentalist
Algeria, where she quickly became the target of spitting and general scorn. And
as the band called more attention to itself with what some considered
inflammatory lyrics, danger encroached -- Atakor's equipment was routinely
snatched at false road blocks, and Massi, who had
disguised herself by cutting off her hair and camouflaging her body with boys'
clothes, nevertheless became the target of death threats after the release of a
late-'90s Atakor cassette."Well, this is Souad the member of Atakor, what about Souad's career in France?
Souad has released 3 albums, "raoui", "deb" & "mesk ellil", most of the songs were with arabic lyrics, with a mix between alot of musical shapes& types.
In her songs Massi was keen to express her proudness to be an Algerian and Arabian woman. I feel she is attached to her roots in Algeria, even you can find that in her songs, talking about her childhood, youth and all the past times she had in Algeria.
That leaves us with no doubts if Souad is against or with the Israeli terror against Palestinians!
I'm 100% sure that the people who kept blogging and offending Souad and her fans who will attend her concerts never tried to know who or what they are talking about.
I had a chance to talk with Souad after Alexandria's concert, which by the way was an amazing concert attended by more than 1000 people.
I asked her so what is your next destination after Cairo?
She answered "Dubai, Oman then Ramallah". She talked about her happiness to sing in Palestine for the people their.
Finally, do you think any non-arabs will attend Souad Massi's concert in Tel-aviv?!
I really doubt that, and don't care if this could happen, because i know well who is Souad Massi!!
